Mark Bankord

Mark joined the Third Road Management team in September 2020 as Vice President of Business Development.  Mark leads Third Road’s efforts in messaging and growing the business by adding ideal new clients to Third Road’s BIG IDEA.

Mark has over 30 years of experience in building, growing, and leading both for-profit and non-profit organizations.  Mark began his career in financial asset management, spending 25+ years building and managing regional brokerage firms, culminating in 2014 with the sale of CapTrust Asset Management, a firm of which he was a founder.  During his tenure as an investment advisor, Mark was recognized as one of the top ten advisors in the entire country.

In addition to his investment experience, Mark founded and led Heartland Community Church in Rockford, Illinois for 14 years, assisting in growing the congregation from inception to over 6,000 in attendance.  For the first 11 years, Mark lead the church as a full-time volunteer while also leading his growing investment practice.  Mark has been credited as a pioneer in what is today known as the multisite/video teaching model in use in churches all around the country.  Further, as an outreach ministry of the church, Mark founded and led “Rockford Sharefest”, a citywide movement to rehabilitate the public schools and extend hope and help to the community of Rockford, Illinois.  Rockford Sharefest mobilized thousands of volunteers and millions of dollars in a variety of ways to serve the community.

In 2012 Mark founded Trajectory Institute/Trajectory RainMaker Solutions with the vision to help founders, owners and leaders of “Big Ideas” set a new trajectory of clarity, energy, courage, capital and “strategic doing”.   Mark helped his clients make a significant impact in their space while generating profitable recurring revenue.

Mark earned a Bachelors of Finance from Eastern Illinois University.  He lives in Loxley, Alabama with his wife Sherri.  They have 4 adult married children and 11 grandchildren who all reside in the Midwest.
